For FREE examinations under the NHF, the patient must have a referral from a health insurance specialist: from a specialist clinic, rehabilitation clinic, psychiatric clinic, from a hospital ward, hospital emergency department (ED) or emergency room. A general practitioner (with the exception of chest CT) cannot refer for an examination.
Age range: The test is performed in patients over 16 years of age at the CM Luxmed facility in Lublin, 7 Orkana Street.
Waiting time for the result: The patient immediately after the test receives the recording on a CD, the test description is available up to 15 working days after the test is performed
The duration of a particular examination is an approximate time and may vary from patient to patient due to, among other things, the need to administer contrast or perform additional sequences. The booked start time of the examination may therefore be subject to some delay.

Preparation
- You must come to the examination with a referral and an identity document.
- Before the test, it is necessary to inform the diagnostic laboratory staff about any of the following: drug allergies, kidney failure, diabetes, hypertension, conditions such as myeloma, hyperthyroidism, as well as any medications taken on a regular basis.
- Bring with you the results of previous examinations of the organ under examination (e.g., X-ray, ultrasound, CT, MR).
- If the subject is taking medication on a regular basis, he should take it normally on the day of the test.
- A contraindication to CT scanning is pregnancy.
- Before registering for the examination, please read the other contraindications to the service, which are described below. If contraindications are found, we recommend that you contact the referring physician for the examination.
- CT scan without contrast - no additional preparation or TSH and creatinine test results required.
- For: contrast-enhanced CT scan , head CT scan or abdominal CT scan in addition:
- no more than 7 days before the CT scan with contrast, TSH and blood creatinine levels should be determined.
- The last light meal should be eaten no later than 5 hours before the examination. You can drink non-carbonated water.
- Before the abdominal CT scan with contrast, it is advisable to drink 1-2 glasses of non-carbonated water. - You should report to the facility 30 minutes before the scheduled examination time.
- Patient treated with Metformin (e.g., GLUCOPHAGE, METFORMAX, SIOFOR, AVAMINA, ETFORM, FORMETIC, GLUFORMIN, METFOGAMMA, METFORMIN, METIFOR, METRAL, EUCREAS): according to the manufacturer's instructions, the drug should be discontinued 48 hours before the test and should be resumed 48 hours after the test with contrast administration.
Description of the study
Computed tomography uses X-rays to image various parts of the body. It is a method often used in the diagnosis of bone lesions and especially of small and delicate structures, e.g. ears, sinuses. CT scans provide high-quality results. Bone and joint examinations are additionally accompanied by 3D reconstruction. The three-dimensional color real image allows for better evaluation, diagnosis and treatment planning.

- Neck,
- Spine,
- Chest,
- Abdominal,
- Pelvis minor,
- Osteoarticular system (hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, shoulder, collarbone, shoulder blade, sternum, foot, shin, knee, thigh, hip, ankle pelvis),
- Soft tissues.
Course of the study
A CT scan takes several to several minutes. During the examination, the patient is placed on a special table, which moves during the scan. The examined area is scanned with an X-ray beam, and then the computer system generates images of cross-sections of the patient's body. The patient should lie still during the examination, otherwise the images obtained will be blurry and impossible for the radiologist to evaluate. During the examination, the patient may be asked to hold his breath for several seconds.
Intravenous administration of iodine contrast agent is required for some CT scans.
Contraindications
General contraindications to the study
- Pregnancy,
- Weight over 135 kg.
Contraindications to examination with contrast
- Allergy to iodine (contrast agent can be administered only for vital indications),
- In patients with an increased risk of developing a thyroid breakthrough, such as untreated hyperthyroidism, iodinated iodine shadowing agents can be administered intravascularly only for vital indications,
- Renal failure - eGFR 45 is an absolute contraindication,
- Acute intracerebral hemorrhage, is a relative contraindication,
- Patients who are breastfeeding should not feed, for at least 24 hours after the test is performed.
